Bullshit Glossary
Asinine -
Something said or done that is just utterly outrageous
or absurd.
Bull Shit! - An absurd or
highly improbable tale passed off as being true. Often
using foolish, deceitful and boastful language and
mannerisms. Salespeople are prolific in the art and
science of bullshitting, although it usually only works
on the untrained, naive consumerist mind.
Canard - An elaborate
and deliberately misleading story.
Candor (non) - Candor is
frankness or sincerity of
expression; openness. Non-Candor
is the opposite.
Circumvention - The
act or moment of prevailing over another by skill,
fraud, deception, imposture or delusion.
Cunning - A masterful
skilled display of deceit. Often executed in a planned exhibitionist
fashion.
Deception - The use of
lies and tricks that often preys and exploits
vulnerable human emotions, to mislead someone to doing
or believing something false.
Double-Dealing -
Acting so as to conceal one's real intentions.
Duplicity - Deliberate
deceptiveness in behavior or speech (a.k.a Political
speeches).
Embellishment -
Addition of fictitious details and creative flare that
embellishes a mostly true story.
Exaggeration -
Representing something in an excessive manner.
Statements and stories that go going beyond the bounds
of truth or reason. Mostly used socially for humor or
personal gain.
Evasion - Escaping or
avoiding using subterfuge or stalling to steer clear out
of the social repercussions of lying or deception.
Fib - A lie that is
silly or childish and is easily perceived as deceptive.
Fiction - An creative
or imaginative story or fable that does not represent
actuality, but has been invented.
Hogwash - Worthless,
false and ridiculous speech or writing; Utter nonsense.
Masterfully used by the media and news reporters.
Liar - A
derogatory term for a person who lies for their own
interest.
Lie - To
intentionally give a false statement or testimony to be
be passed as truth or fact.
Mendacious - A person
or statement that deliberately conceals or
misrepresentation the truth.
Sales Pitch - A
marketed lie to promote or sell a product.
Scheme - A secret contrived plan or plot that
is highly devious and leads to personal gains.
Sly - A clever and/or
cunning individual or action especially in the practice
of deceit. Performed with little suspicion.
Social engineering
- A
technique to exploit emotional vulnerability to obtain
confidential information by manipulation of an innocent,
naive victim. A social engineer will commonly use the
telephone or Internet to trick people into revealing
sensitive information by using their innate.
